TECHNOLOGICAL INSTRUCTION FOR PREPARATION, STORAGE AND APPLICATION OF “FMI-RJS-U LIQUID CONCENTRATE” (TU U 23.2-30908987-002: 2007) AS A LUBRICANT-COOLING LIQUID / LIQUID FMI-RJS-U /
1. General Provisions
1.1. This technological instruction is applied in accordance with the requirements of sanitary regulations, fire safety rules, labor protection and safety engineering when working with lubricating and cooling liquids of countries, republics where the FMI-RJS-U coolant is used.
2. Preparation, storage and use of coolant FMI-RJS-U
2.1. The liquid concentrate FMI-RJS-U is a mixture of glycerin, mono-diglycerides, fatty acid esters from vegetable oils, potassium soaps, surfactants, which when mixed with water create stable emulsions and is used for cutting and abrasive processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. FMI-RJS-U must meet the requirements of technical specifications / TU U 23.2-30908987-002: 2007 / quality indicators that must be in the passport / certificate / quality for each batch of the finished product, a copy of which (for the relevant lot) is supplied with product to the consumer.
2.2. The FMI-RJS-U Concentrate has: a toxic and hygienic passport No. 6139, a conclusion of the state sanitary and epidemiological expertise of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, technical conditions and other necessary documents.
2.3. Concentrate FMI-RJs-U does not contain naphthenic acids, soda ash, sodium nitrate, triethanolamine. The content of free alkali is regulated in accordance with the requirements of the consumer.
2.4. According to TU FMI-RJS-U stored in a hermetically sealed container. Before preparing the working emulsion concentrate must be mixed with mechanical devices or compressed air. When storing the concentrate at a temperature below 0. C, it must be heated with steam or electric heaters to a positive temperature before use and mixed until homogeneous by the above methods.
2.5. When preparing working solutions (aqueous emulsions) from FMI-RJS-U concentrate at enterprises, it is forbidden to make ingredients that are not provided for in the technical documentation.
2.6. Preparation of working solutions (emulsions) should be carried out in rooms covering walls and floors which should be resistant to oils, water and alkalis, and also have a slope for fluid drainage and water harvesting.
2.7. To ensure long-term performance, maintain the operational properties of the working emulsion from the concentrate FMI-RZhS-U it is necessary:
2.7.1. Remove the spent or decayed emulsion of other grades of concentrate from the circulation system of the equipment and jellied container.
2.7.2. Clean (if necessary) the inner surfaces of the jellied container from dirt, various kinds of deposits and waste.
2.7.3. Rinse the filling tank and circulation system of the working emulsion with a solution of general-purpose detergents, remove the wash solution from the system and the jar. Rinse the filling tank and the water circulation system to prepare a working emulsion and remove water from the system and the container.
2.7.4. Carry out disinfection of the jellied vessel and the circulation system of the working emulsion, after which it should be washed with water, which is used to prepare a working emulsion and to remove water from the system and the jar.
2.8. Cleaning, washing, disinfection of containers, communications, the transport system of concentrate and working emulsion, as well as the circulation system of the working emulsion must be carried out before each subsequent pouring.
2.9. Containers for the preparation of emulsion workers, pipelines for its transportation should exclude contamination of the production and the environment.
2.10. Circulation systems of the working emulsion must have emulsion cleaning devices from mechanical impurities (dust, chips, abrasive, etc.).

NOTE: taking into account the specificity of the technology of blade processing of metals of different enterprises, including the different rigidity of the water used, it is necessary to select the optimal concentration of the working emulsion in practice by proceeding from the more economical use of the concentrate.
Attention! When preparing the working emulsion, in order to reduce the dissolution time, it is necessary to supply the calculated amount of concentrate to a jar of water, ensuring a continuous mixing of the mixture to a homogeneous solution.
2.12. The concentration of the working emulsion is monitored according to the “Procedure for determining the emulsion concentration based on the FMI-RZs-U concentrate”, the procedure is attached. Concentration to the necessary norm is carried out by adding to the jellied tank the calculated amount of concentrate or working emulsion with an increased calculated concentration. Complete replacement of the working emulsion is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the technological regulations of the enterprise, providing for the implementation of paragraph 2.8. of this manual.
2.13. Taking into account that the spent emulsion is contaminated with foreign products, including additional components of the processed metals, its utilization is carried out by existing methods at the enterprise.
2.14. The implementation of laboratory control over water hardness is carried out in accordance with the requirements of regulatory acts in force at the enterprise.
3. Requirements for production equipment
3.1. In accordance with the current regulations on the location of the consumer enterprise of the concentrate FMI-RJS-U. Additional requirements are not required.
4. Heating and ventilation
4.1. In accordance with the requirements of the current rules and regulations on the location of the customer’s enterprise.
5. Personal protective equipment and preventive measures
5.1. When working with FMI-RZs-U concentrate, including with a working emulsion, use custom-made personal protective equipment and preventive measures at the enterprise:
- Overalls (cotton, wadded jacket),
- Footwear (leather shoes or boots),
- Protective equipment (glasses, mittens, respirator).

5.2. When installing in the air of the working area excess of MPC harmful substances – constituent components of the processed metals (chromium, manganese, lead, nickel, etc.), it is necessary to use dust-type respirators such as “petal”, “Kama-40-200” and the like. Also replace the working emulsion.
5.3. If necessary, use protective ointments and pastes (silicone hand cream, etc.) to protect the skin.
5.4. Working with concentrate FMI-RJS-U, incl. and with working emulsions from it, after the change, a shower with toilet soap should be used.
6. Requirements for sanitary control over the content of harmful substances in the air
6.1. It is carried out in accordance with the regulations in force in the country.
7. Sanitary and domestic security
7.1. Sanitary and domestic security is carried out in accordance with the current regulations on the location of the consumer’s enterprise.
8. Organization and execution of works in the period of reconstruction and repair
8.1. The fulfillment of these works at the enterprises of the used emulsion from FMI-RJS-U is carried out in accordance with the current regulatory acts at the location of the FMI-RJS-U consumer enterprise.
9. Protection of the environment
9.1. When working with FMI-RJS-U concentrate, including with a working emulsion based on it, it is necessary to strictly observe all the requirements of regulatory enactments for the protection of the environment of the consumer enterprise operating at the location.
